PUEDO School and Proyecto UNITED

Sí se Puede!

The Proyecto UNITED and the PUEDO School support education in the communities of Montezuma, Cóbano, Mal País, Santa Teresa and Manzanillo at the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula.

Proyecto UNITED specializes in teaching English to children and adults, an important skill in finding and holding jobs in the area’s tourism-based economy.

PUEDO (Proyecto UNITED’s Educational Opportunity School) is a private nonprofit school which offers kindergarten and elementary school as well as after-school programs for the area’s children. PUEDO is the first school in Costa Rica to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum for primary schools. The school strives to be accessible to local children by raising funds for scholarships and providing after school programs free of cost.
The GCF contributed a $5,000 matching grant to the PUEDO School’s Scholarship Program in 2016.
